Following the first stage of production modernisation, originally initiated in 2021 and directed at improving oil-product quality, the Omsk Refinery switched to the exclusive production of Euro-5 environmentally friendly fuels in this year.
The plant’s processing chain now includes the highest-capacity light-gasoline-fraction isomerization facility in Russia and Europe, a new hydrotreatment complex for diesel fuels, a gasoline cat-cracking facility, and a newly modernised KT-1/1 mazut and bitumen deep conversion unit.
The objective of the second phase of modernisation is to increase refining depth at the Omsk Refinery to 97 percent, and the light product yield to 80 percent, to which end the construction of new crude distillation/vacuum distillation units (CDU/VDUs), delayed coking units, and deep refining facilities is currently ongoing. Thanks to new technologies, production of pre-refined light oil products at the Omsk Refinery is already up six percent.
Environmentally friendly initiatives
Reducing environmental impacts is a major area of focus in modernising the Omsk Refinery — a key environmental project in this area being the construction of new «Biosphere» treatment facilities, which have already proved their effectiveness at the company’s Moscow refinery. Thanks to a unique range of cutting-edge technologies, these new facilities make it possible to remove up to 99.9 percent of water pollutants, as well as delivering a two-fold reduction in water usage.
