LLC Bryanskneftekhimprom Omsk Refinery

A technological industry leader

With installed capacity of 22.23 million tonnes of oil per year, the Omsk Refinery processed 21 million tonnes in 2021, maintaining its leading position in Russia by refining volumes. The Omsk Refinery also leads the industry in terms of key performance indicators in production efficiency, with its light product yield reaching 71.04 percent in 2021, and refining depth 90.89 percent.

The various technological processes used at the Omsk Refinery are among the most advanced available in refining today.

Key Metrics
21,00 MILLION TONNES Refining Volumes
90,89% Refining depth
71,04% Light product yield
38,5K TONNES of needle coke per year — anticipated annual production once the Omsk Refinery’s DCU reaches full production capacity

New Products

Products from the Omsk Refinery appear among the prize winners at the Russia-wide «100 Best Russian Products» awards every year. Competitors in 2021 included, specifically, I-Drive 100 high-performance gasoline, RMD-80 low-sulphur onboard engine fuel, and LPG autogas.

The Omsk Refinery regularly launches new products, in line with consumer demand. Completing the first phase of modernising the delayed coking unit (DCU) has resulted in Russia’s first ever needle-coke production facility — a strategically crucial raw material for the metallurgy, nuclear, petrochemicals and space industries, currently imported in Russia. Modernisation of the delayed coking unit is expected to be complete by 2021.

Modernising production

Following the first stage of production modernisation, originally initiated in 2021 and directed at improving oil-product quality, the Omsk Refinery switched to the exclusive production of Euro-5 environmentally friendly fuels in this year.

The plant’s processing chain now includes the highest-capacity light-gasoline-fraction isomerization facility in Russia and Europe, a new hydrotreatment complex for diesel fuels, a gasoline cat-cracking facility, and a newly modernised KT-1/1 mazut and bitumen deep conversion unit.

The objective of the second phase of modernisation is to increase refining depth at the Omsk Refinery to 97 percent, and the light product yield to 80 percent, to which end the construction of new crude distillation/vacuum distillation units (CDU/VDUs), delayed coking units, and deep refining facilities is currently ongoing. Thanks to new technologies, production of pre-refined light oil products at the Omsk Refinery is already up six percent.

Environmentally friendly initiatives

Reducing environmental impacts is a major area of focus in modernising the Omsk Refinery — a key environmental project in this area being the construction of new «Biosphere» treatment facilities, which have already proved their effectiveness at the company’s Moscow refinery. Thanks to a unique range of cutting-edge technologies, these new facilities make it possible to remove up to 99.9 percent of water pollutants, as well as delivering a two-fold reduction in water usage.
